The Great Plan

I feel I must try set my plan to page to better understand it, I want a freedom from oppression for the Skaa and a new start for all. But I want it without death or bloodshed Lord Ruler know I have seen too much of that. The others believe it a foolish plan of a silly girl but I believe that I will suceed!

Obstacles

  • The Skaa’s desire for revenge
  • The Opposition of House Panassian
  • The Opposition of House Triskinle
  • The Opposition of House Renoux
  • The Opposition of House Hasting
  • The Opposition of House Dilisteni
  • The Opposition of House Bylerum
  • Kistaris’ gung ho attitude
  • The opposition of the Obligators
  • Convince the Thieving crews they are better off without constantly stealing everything not nailed down.
  • Ensuring our city can be defended in the aftermath
  • Ruin

So we need to bring on side the Nobles and Skaa to have productive discussions, establish a new legal system, reign in centuries of prejudice, convince the Obligators that their god is gone and that things need to change all without destroying ourselves.

Solutions
Skaa Desire for Revenge

  • The Skaa desire for revenge needs to be replaced with hope for the future and their children. Speeches and showing them what can be achieved with this must be done. I have an idea to give Alhara a school and a place for the Terris to teach from and spread their knowledge now the Lord Ruler is gone.
  • We will also need to rein in the Skaa fighters and ensure that they can be disciplined. We will need to insitgate a few month training programme to ensure this
  • Sandcrown and Quillan need to be established as Generals of the Skaa rebellion and then train the troops to follow them. Promote rivalry and competition between the two forces. Fiora, Owandise and Kwabez need to also be brought on for this.
  • We must control the weapon stockpile to prevent the opportunistic Skaa attacking before we are prepared
  • We will need set up bases to train and teach from.

The Opposition of House Panassian

  • Solved short term our need for Gold will hopefully bring the rest of the house in line and the rewards allomancerss will reap in a new system.

The Opposition of House Triskinle

  • Give Durran and Valette a chance to be together under this new government they could marry and be happy
  • Bringing them back in from being social Pariahs – arrange a secret trade deal to the Renouxs for the metal from their mines.

The Opposition of House Renoux

  • Encourage Tevan and Quillan’s friendship
  • Offer them the large scale contracts for the new army of Austrex
  • Arrange deal between them and Triskinle
  • Offer Valette and Durran chance to marry under new government
  • Buy all their weapons with Atium

The Opposition of House Hasting

  • Appear stronger than them – they have no Atium?

The Opposition of House Dilisteni

  • Reese is open to change she is kind hearted
  • Darielle to bring Molsier in line
  • Reese scared for her family offering safety and stability should help
  • Increase rumours of rampaging Koloss and monsters

The Opposition of House Bylerum

  • Needs investigation
  • My house has traditionally good ties with thme

Kistaris’ gung ho attitude

  • Marginalise Kistaris by having Sandcrown etc. made generals loyalty to them rather than Kistaris
  • Convince him to give us an operational budget so we can operate independantly
  • Need to find out how he became leader

The opposition of the Obligators

  • Convince them the Lord Ruler is gone and they need to protect his people as he did before – Tristana sent with a message?
  • Bribes

To Buy

  • Additional Ships for Zolacaster (4+ Resources)
  • School for Alhara
  • Weapons from Renoux
  • Bribes for Obligators
  • Additional Plantations and grounds for training
  • Safe Houses
  • Metal Stockpiles

Shopping Bane and Dueling Canes

Shopping wasn’t one of Quinn’s strong suits, considering the money he had got used to spending. Skaa upbringing emphasised functionality: and this pragmatic attitude seemed to have been carried over into his new life.

He picked up a duelling cane. Fallow had told him it was all about weighting and how you fought. If you were a fancy feinter you needed something light and hardy, but if you wanted to take someone out in one then something heavier was better. He hadn’t thought teven often enough, but gathered something lighter would be better.

The skaa behind the counter eyed him. He was a burly man, probably worked in the field and was employed after some injury.

I wonder if he’s in the resistance he pondered. If he wasn’t then it would be a good connection to have, nice way to arm up the armies we’ll need, and we’ll need a stockpile too. I’ll have to mention it to Fallow.

He turned back to the weapons, looking now at daggers.

I might have to have a conversation with Teven about whether he’s allomantically inclined. If he’s a mistborn he would be brilliant to have on side, but they way his family treats him makes me doubt it. Maybe Valette, that would explain why she was dating Durran.

Then again maybe it was a play. Maybe they have no allomancers so they wanted one on side, until he showed himself to be a little incompetent. Can’t do well for a weapons dealer to not really have any protections.

He tutted to himself for getting distracted. He was here to buy Teven a gift, not explore the web of political unions. That was Bella’s job.

He closed his eyes. Don’t think about it. Just go with your gut feeling, it’s the thought that counts.

Scanning again, he picked out a more upmarket white aspen rod. It was light, but strong; flexible when he pressed on the ends, but didn’t break under pressure.

Nodding to himself, he bought the rod and began walking to the Renoux household.

Chapter 51 Summary
The Session we tried to be Politicians
  • Bella has a plan
  • We will find out about forces in Austrex
  • We will get more people on side (not Molsier because oops)
  • Get Triskinle on side
  • Look over Keep Lekal

Team Socialise

  • Bella, Alhara and Tris go to see Durran and the Triskinles to discuss political marriages, and Panassian subsuming Triskinle to restore their reputation
  • Durran is arrogance though this has been damaged recently, relationship with Valette is less prominent, the parents have a cool relationship, they are a new house (parents 40 and 35), parents make decisions together (no one in charge particularly), They have mines

Team Lekal

  • Quillan and Sandcrown go to keep lekal to give it a once over, it appears to have two people living in it. One seems to serve the other, who sits reading in the library most of the time (Geffenry? Terris?)
  • Ascertain that it is probably mostly safe to live in and act out of when the rebellion starts.

Next day

  • Sandcrown also goes to see Resistance and talk with the miserly Joxxan and speak with Kristaris
  • Alhara goes to order a ship to be sent to zolacaster and collect the information about Hasting from Obligators
  • Mennis is also being trained by Owandise
  • Bella and Triss to go see molsier
  • Quillan to go see Teven (bought a weaponry gift)

A Lesson in Matchmaking

“Hey, Cass, how’s the copper going?”

The youngest Panassian glared up over her book, the usual twinge of annoyance at first but quickly replaced with the practiced civility of a noble lady.

“It’s going well, Quillan. And how goes your own training? My sister tells me you’ve been spending a lot of time out of the house. I feel I haven’t seen you in months.”

“It’s going amicably, I guess. I’ve been working with the resistance so I haven’t had the opportunities I might like for such things. All that time with Fallow has made my pewter usage a lot more efficient, mind.”

“It’s something,” she smirked, sliding a leaf of paper into her book, “but I assume I do not owe the pleasure of your conversation to enquiries about allomancy?”

Quinn blushed slightly. Even after months of his own socialising, he still found it offputting how easily his intentions seemed to everyone else.

“Well, I wondered how much you knew of matchmaking.”

“Matchmaking? Please tell me you’re not about to ship my sister off with another pirate!”

“No, no, of course not,” the words fell out in a tumble, followed by laughter by the pair as they recalled Hyrum.

“We shouldn’t laugh, Quillan. She hasn’t had love like that before and you’re supposed to be improving your relationship with her, not gossiping about it in the library.”

“You’re quite right, little miss. No, I’ve been wondering about it for some time. In part I’m quite aware that I have a certain political power and we might find some good comes from me pairing off with a noble lady, and I’m wondering about the process.”

Cassielle blushed slightly, asking in a quiet voice,

“Do you have a house in mind?”

Quillan stared back at her, his eyes boring into her own before blinking and looking away.

“It would be an entirely political thing, so I can’t say I’ve thought about it much more. I’m just curious as to what I’d be expected to do and how to act.” He paused slightly, mouth part open, before continuing, “I also think Pidge has someone he likes I just won’t do him the discourtesy of asking who, or chasing it privately, so I can at least dig for information and share it with him so he doesn’t expose us. Plus,” a grin forming on his face, “I’m quite of the opinion that Kwabez and Alhara would be a good match too.”

“Lord Ruler…” Casielle sighed at the ceiling, “Have you ever, perhaps, thought you shouldn’t get involved in other people’s lives?”

He blinked. “Never.”

She roller her eyes slightly, then turned her mind to the problem.

“Well you know Alhara better than I. Given some of the stuff I’ve picked up about the Terris I suspect she won’t appreciate your involvement very much, but you can do as you wish. In terms of nobles…well the honest if unhelpful answer is it depends.

“Houses tend to match up young men and women through factors of status and resources. Rich families with high status will marry the same so as to become richer or more influential, while those who lack resources may marry off a son to the daughter of a poor if well-respected family so that both benefit in some fashion.

“Once they’ve been matched, it’s kind of a trial of obedience and patience. If you end up with someone you can live with, you’ll do as is expected. Flowers, letters of love, visits, meeting the family…you get the picture. Stewards sometimes deal with that if the suitor is an important heir or just too busy for it.”

Quillan walked over to the window, looking out towards the city of Austrex on the horizon. He thought about Molsier and Krea, Hyrum and his unknown love, the noble couples he had seen.

“It seems sad that nobles can’t marry for affection. Part of me can’t believe I could pity nobles…but I do. It must be horrid to harbour an unenactable affection for someone.”

“Unenactable? That’s not a word, Quinn.” She stood up and walked over to stand next to him, growing taller in her age, she still stood only up to his shoulder.

“It’s true we don’t marry for love. Sometimes people get lucky, it’s true, but it’s rarer than mistings. But that’s why we’re trying to change things right? Everyone’s lives will improve: it won’t be just Skaa who benefit, but hopefully we’ll open up the noble houses to a less restrictive lifestyle too. I mean, take me and Bella. We both essentially ran away from home.”

“That’s true…thank you, Casielle. I’ll let you get back to your back.”

With a quick bow, Quillan stomped off into the house, calling for Pidge.

She shook her head when she settled down again. Boys.

Chapter 50 Summary
The Session Everyone was there by Dark Magicks Unknown
  • Bella and Fallow argue over breakfast in regards to violent action being a part of the takeover and how we should approach the issue of taking over the city
  • Bella believes we should threaten before we act in order to avoid a fight whereas Fallow says a show of force may be necessary in order to force nobles in line from the get go, and taking all the atium is a part of that.

Cullen and Ben, if this is an incorrect summary feel free to alter, as this was the section of the game I was still mostly asleep inside

  • Bella says the other must agree, to which Fallow says they haven’t even said a word. In general Alhara agrees violent action isn’t desirable but may be unavoidable and Quinn simply states he would like not to be a punching bag for Marienesse (spelling?). Triss is okay with violence but investigation is the first step to check the realities of a heist.
  • The party separates to perfom various tasks
  • Bella goes to speak to the obligators, accidentally seduces one, puts money towards the Obligator providing a map of the internal layout of the Hasting household
  • Bella makes a deal with Gerraint in regards to the house and getting them to agree to side with the Rebellion, in the process ensuring their father has enough gold to be cognitively able.
  • Alhara makes a map of the Hasting household to the best of her memory then quickly realises almost everyone she would like to speak to is not in the city
  • She briefly visits Kwabez to talk about training the rebellion and what to make of the death of the Lord Ruler after it has now happened
  • I ship it
  • Triss, Fallow and Quinn head to the rebelliion to discuss matters and gain information that way
  • A conversation with a random informer suggests they should be able to get that information after some time
  • The three talk about the make up of the Rebellion and agree it could do with a few more leaders so that their is an escalation procedure/chain of command
  • Fallow returns home to speak to the Sloweswift specials to see if any of them are suitable for a military-esque leadership position
  • They still agree he is crazy
  • Fallow briefly returns to the rebellion, bumping into Quinn, and finds out how the Atium is being tracked, hugging a confused lady in the process.
  • Quinn mooches around the rebellion trying to ascertain their morale about their chances of success and what they make of Kristaris’ new outlook on life.
  • He learns stuff he doesn’t need to but makes progress to ruling our hermalurgy and Emotional allomancy
  • Triss speaks to Quinn about how she and Fiore came to be a couple, he awkwardly leaves after
  • Triss speaks with Fiore and arranges a way to start getting a more formalised structure of command
  • She is unfortunately witness to the conversation with Lin

Points of action

  • Owandise to teach Mennis better copper protection
  • Sloweswift specials to decide how to step up
  • Bella to visit Molsier without Fallow
  • Quinn to find a way to confirm if Kristaris is ‘spiked’
